Photos from NEARfest 2009: Saturday

And here are the Saturday Bands...
I really really enjoyed CDC.
All shot with a Nikon D50 using either a 85mm 1.4 lens or the 50mm 1.8 lens. Had to play quite a bit with the manual settings to get the exposure times right depending on the constantly shifting lighting conditions. The automatic settings tended to overexpose everything. Some bands were a lot easier to shoot than others - primarily due to differences in the light and video shows. Oblivion Sun shot very easily where Steve Hillage was tough.
Oblivion Sun, DFA, and Gong galleries below the fold.

After trying 1.4 and 1.8 on Friday I then settled in to shooting at 2.2-2.5 and then adjusting the shutter speed depending on what the lights were doing at the time. And I under-exposed everything. I also played some with the VIVID image setting vs NORMAL though I don't think the difference is all that drastic and I got passable photos either way. On Sunday I switched the metering to be center weighted.
Hey I just checked out your Flickr site. Looks like you got some really nice shots this weekend. You were right behind the soundboard eh? I was right behind the lightboard. ;)
